I actually rediscovered video games at the beginning of the pandemic after a LONG hiatus. I was shocked to see such a broad range of different games. Gamers like to complain, but this is a great time to play games. Problem is, so many only play AAA new releases, which too often follow the same blueprint that made a franchise a success in the first place. If you keep playing those games, developers will keep making them; and developers will be pressured to make the same games by their corporate overlords.
