I rediscovered gaming during the pandemic, right before my 40th birthday, and have been amazed at the variety and the depth of storytelling. Games have evolved quite a bit since I was a kid, but, honestly, even then, games like The Legend of Zelda were telling good stories. For one reason or another, these stereotypes about games persist. Maybe it's the word itself, "games," as superficial as that is, that predispose people to them. Or maybe it's because gaming is still relatively young as a form of entertainment. Some people think games are all first-person shooters, but that would be like judging the entire film industry by the Avengers movies.
