Precisely what I came here to say. It's about motivation and expectation. I'm writing my novel because I'm compelled to, not because I'm convinced the book will be a commercial success. I have two types of writing: 1) for my career 2) for me. Sometimes, they overlap. Often, they don't. That's OK with me.
