This is really timely for me. I'm on my third novel in the last four years, so I've grappled with this a LOT. It's so important to know why you're writing a book. Sometimes, we do it for the "wrong" reasons, or reasons we're not aware of. In retrospect, I realized the first two books were elaborate ways of avoiding the painful story I needed to write.
